Fine Art Masters degree projects 2024-25
Last year I began my Masters degree in Fine Art at Birmingham City University after about 15 years of postponing it because of work and family. During that time, I developed my own art practice as well as teaching art; so when finally let loose again as a (very) mature student, I had lot of ideas about what I wanted to explore as a painter. Once on the course, however, I was introduced to some completely new processes, and it's been an enjoyable journey discovering ways of working with film, experimental photography, the Adobe creative suite, photogravure printmaking and installation.
I have definitely been out of my comfort zone on several occasions so far; there is so much to learn, but I know the MA course is a fantastic opportunity to be inspired and take my art practice in exciting directions it would not otherwise be pushed!
For the MA, I have completed 4 out of 5 modules so far; Advanced Practice 1, Technical Processes and Workshop Practices, Advanced Practice 2 and Research in Practice. I am currently working on the final module which is my Major Project.
